Northern Lights

Today, the prime minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji has requested us to light lamps with respect for all the brave people who are playing with their lives to fight the Coronavirus, so I have written this poem on the natural lights given by nature in the polar regions.
I have always wanted to see the Aurora Borealis, in this poem I have imagined how it might feel and look for a traveler in the polar regions...

Northern Lights

The old traveler
Sitting on his steady yak
Wobbled slowly in the polar
Watching the sun
Vanishing into the dark;

December it was
Cold blizzards shook the ground
Yet nothing stopped him
Just as the dreary black swallowed the sky

The scene tore with glittering streaks
A vibrant shade of gradations
Violet, Purple, and Green
Couldn’t look more divine than ever

The stars sat on these colors
Grinning broadly
The sky looked like a painter’s palette
Colors smudged everywhere
Still glamorous and enchanting;

The traveler looked engrossed
Never had experienced this before
Wishing to touch these Borealis
So far away in the sky
His yak glistened in the picturesque portrait thinking-
“Twilight couldn’t have been more magnificent…”
