Twenty Years Older: A Letter Tag

Hey everyone! So in April, Gauri from Brighter Alleys created an exquisite tag and nominated me to attempt it. I must say, it is such a creative topic and I am really ecstatic to try this out, even though I am a month late😜. Thanks a ton, Gauri!!

The Rules:

i) Appreciate the blogger who nominated you.
ii) Mention Gauri@BrighterAlleys, creator of this letter tag.
iii) Answer the question, which is a task to write a letter.
iv) Now, nominate five bloggers who you think are worth it. Make sure they know that they are nominated.

Imagine yourself to be twenty years older than now. You have become what you always wanted to, and are living your dream. But suddenly, the 'current version of you' pops out of nowhere and asks for some tips. What tips will you give? Write a letter from the 'twenty years older you' to the 'current you' and tell how you reached your goals in twenty years.

Dear Young Maith,

I recently came across this quote by Marcus Tullius Cicero which goes like this:
"There is no one who can give you wiser advice than you can give yourself."
Reflective right? I'm sure, you as a teenager would like to instill in the elementary-school shy kid a few astute words. So, here I am, 20 years later writing to give you a peek into the future.

I cannot reveal much of the future as it would disrupt time and space (haha, yes! I still love sci-fi!). I can guarantee one thing though, your dreams paved me where I am today. Thanks to those endless reveries in your room and wondering about beautiful things, the present (A.K.A your future) became marvelous! All the things you wished for didn't turn up with ease, but due to hard work, dreams, and a little luck, they came into existence. Your future is an electric place to live in, with so many indelible memories and momentous events. Just hang on tight!

All these adventures life put me on, taught me so much--I am almost like Confucius😂. Life is a strange little journey; every event no matter how dire it is, plays a role in shaping you. You are up for a roller coaster time filled with laughter, mirth, celebrations, sorrow, puzzles, and much much more! Sometimes situations can make you queasy, but remember 'Ad Meliora'-- always strive and hope for sunshine. An example being the pandemic, which (don't you worry) will come to a closure.

Don't be clouded by what others think. Don't draw a line to your potential. Don't clip your wings, because you know that you are meant to fly high. Stand up for yourself and show the world your colors! Because trust me, you won't regret it. Step out of your comfort zone as you have the whole universe left to explore.

Obviously, you must be wondering about what I am doing right now... I am going to be an enigma and leave it unanswered, hehe! All your current interests are still in my purse and I have added to it exponentially. Good news, I still remain in contact with school-buddies and we all have embarked on much more thrilling escapades! Oh yes, even now listen to Taylor Swift while writing and I continue to blog! Guess some things never change😉

You are going to meet fascinating people, work on intriguing things, attend glorious events, travel, learn so much.... oh my! Awesome things lay ahead!

Before I go, I want to tell you one more thing-- Enjoy every step. Right now, you are a teen and though things may seem excruciating- find the bright side, rejoice and wear a smile. When needed take breaks and rewind, but never give up. Even if you yearn, you cannot come back to these times, so don't waste it and feel guilty later on.
I assume the lockdown is still going on. Remember even now you can delve into the deepest depths and explore new wonders. Starting your blog was a stepping stone to greater milestones and just like that find more things that you are passionate about.
Passion fuels the soul to reach heights.

I am so proud of you, and I wish you everlasting luck and joy in all future endeavors❤

Love,
Older and Wiser Maith.

Gauri, I had a stupendous time thinking from the shoes of my future self. Thanks again for the tag! :)

Also, this post was my 50th post!!! 🥳 A new milestone!!! YAY!!

And now, I nominate... *drumroll*

And YOU, if you want to do it!

Well, that's all. I hope you liked this post! What are your thoughts? What would you like to hear from your future self? Are you interested in doing this tag? Do you have a blog?

Tell me in the comments! 😁

  1. I loved this so much! The idea was so creative, and I, too, hope I'll be much wiser when I'm older! Thanks so much for the nomination, but I'm full to the brim with tags and awards so I'm putting them off for a while. But I'll do this soon! <3 Also I love that quote you said to your younger (well, present) self from your future self was extremely topical ;)

I love listening to Taylor Swift while writing/reading!
