Mendel's Friends: The Ventures of a Bored Student in Bio
The clock struck 1.30. The weather outside, foggy. I wrestled a pencil in my hands trying to balance it on just my pinky finger, while my teacher sifted through her slideshow while reciting biological jargon in a monotonous voice. I had figured out the right intervals when my teacher would turn around and make eye contact with the class, so when she did that, I instantly looked deep into her pupils and gave a faithful nod. Satisfied, she then continued her convoluted explanation of evolutionary mechanisms (I think).
My biology notebook has become a sketchbook of doodles and random squiggles, but most of the time, I try to condense the lecture's content into fun comics, so that I can find something to do during class learn the topics in a more enthralling and engaging way!
Here's a short comic on Mendelian Genetics! It's a very simplified, bird's eye view of the topic, so I would highly recommend exploring it further, apart from just reading this comic. I was definitely inspired by the style of the Amoeba Sisters while doodling this yesterday, so this is also a big thanks to them for their incredible videos!
Ah, I know the Amoeba Sisters from school as well, and I very much enjoyed reading this! If I were your teacher I'd give you an A+ for this comic!
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you Hividah!! The Amoeba Sisters are epic, right??
